COPS NAB SUSPECT IN VIOLENT SPREE

A Monmouth Street man was arrested on kidnapping, assault and other charges early Sunday morning after separate attacks on three women, Red Bank Police report.

Hector Plazas-Sanchez is being held in the Monmouth County lockup on $581,000 bail after the incidents, which all occurred in little more than a one-hour span, according to acting department spokesman Sgt. Eliot Ramos.

The suspect was seen by police caught in the act of the third assault, Ramos said.

On September 28, 2008 at 02:28 am, the Red Bank Police were summoned to the area of the parking lot located in the area of Monmouth ST and Drummond PL for a report of a female subject who had been assaulted. The victim a 23-year-old female who was talking on a cell phone in the parking lot was approached by a Latino male who then assaulted her by choking her. The 23 year old female was able to fight the Latino male off who then fled the area. The 23 year old female was then transported to the Riverview Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

On September 28, 2008 at 03:12 am, the Red Bank Police were summoned to the area of 150 Monmouth St for a report of a female subject who had been assaulted. The victim a 20-year-old female who was in front of 150 Monmouth St was approached by a Latino male who then assaulted her by cutting her with a utility knife. The 23 year old female was able to break away from the Latino male who then fled the area. The 23-year-old female was then transported to the Riverview Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries and released

On September 28, 2008 at 03:30 am, Ptlm. Paul Perez was investigating the prior two assaults and while doing so traveled into the area of Oakland St and Pearl St where he observed a Latino Male assaulting a female in that area. Ptlm. Paul Perez then confronted the Latino male who then fled the area. Additional patrol units were dispatched to the area and the Latino male was then apprehended in the area of Chestnut St and Pearl St. The 28-year-old female received a minor injury to her hand, which did not require any medical attention. At the scene a utility knife was recovered.

Plazas-Sanchez was charged with one count of kidnapping; three counts of attempted robbery; two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault; an weapons-possession charges.

Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Anthony Mellaci set the bail.
