Got a concern, request or gripe of a municipal nature? Don’t bring it to Red Bank borough hall on a Monday night and expect to air it out anymore.
The governing body is moving its meeting dates over to hump day.
The council voted unanimously Monday night to accommodate an absent Councilman Mike DuPont’s new work schedule — he was recently appointed borough attorney in Sayreville, where the council also meets Mondays — and reschedule its meetings to the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
“That is the reason,” Mayor Pasquale Menna said. “It’s not an earthquake. We’ve done it before.”
The proposed change got unanimous approval, and no one in the audience expressed any objections.
The last time the council changed its meeting days was about eight years ago, Menna said, when then-mayor Ed McKenna took a job as Tinton Falls’s attorney.
But, what if, say, another council member gets a job that require them to work Wednesday nights?
“We’ll have to see then,” Menna said, dismissing the possibility that the council’s meetings would be shuffled again this year. “It’s normal stuff, nothing extraordinary.”
The next council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, at 6:30p. The council is scheduled to meet every second and fourth Wednesday thereafter for the rest of the year.
