The annual Shore Paddle fundraiser for Clean Ocean Action travels upriver to Red Bank’s Marine Park for the first time Saturday.
The brief, sunlit window of Local Summer may be giving way to the first flush of fall, but the communities of the Greater Red Bank Green are hardly ready to throw in the beach towel on outdoor delights.
Witness the return on Saturday of a favorite riverside diversion: Shore Paddle in Marine Park in Red Bank.
Relocated upriver for the first time from Rumson, the annual fundraising stand-up paddle event offers an opportunity for one more “paddle with friends” on our beautiful Navesink River, with a range of activities for all ages and experience levels, and a chance to help the nonprofit Clean Ocean Action keep our local coastal ecosystems and waterways clean and safe for all paddlers, swimmers, and beachgoers.
Hosted by Paddleguru, this final “rain or shine” event of the 2015 SUP season begins at 9:30 a.m, with featured activities that include a 6.5-mile World Paddle Association-sanctioned race, a 2.5-mile fun paddle, and a half-mile kids’ paddle.
Also on hand: vendors, kids’ crafts, SUP demos, yoga sesions, and more — with the action moving to Jamians Food and Drink for an after-party that features an awards ceremony, free food and drinks, and live music.
Sign up here for the race and fun paddles (entry fees increase by $25 the day of the event), and email [email protected] with questions regarding board rental, sponsorship and donations. Check Shore Paddle on Facebook for news and weather-related updates.
