Looking for a way to spend that tax return? Out of Mother’s Day gift ideas?
Red Bank’s got an offer that may be up your alley.
As the bulkhead reconstruction at Marine Park starts winding down, borough officials announced they’re taking donations for new park benches at the park overlooking the Navesink River.
The $1,500 price tag will cover the cost and installation of the bench, plus a plaque — be it in memoriam, a dedication or other note that will fit on the seat back.
It’s a tradition in town that is evident in Riverside Gardens Park and along Broad Street, where plaques display the names and memories of locals, said Mayor Pasquale Menna.
Eighteen benches are set to be installed at the park, and Menna said there should be no problem filling the orders, which are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“We’ve had to turn people down,” Menna said.
If you want to make a lasting display of affection, head into the administrator’s office at borough hall.
There’s no information yet on when the benches will be installed, but Menna said the park’s bulkhead and promenade project is on track to be done next month.
“We’re definitely on schedule,” he said. “I think we’ll get it done real soon.”
