Over on our sib site Red Bank oRBit, a special week of musically minded
coverage climaxes today with a lookahead at three days’ worth of sublime sounds from all
imaginable corners of the local tunescape.
Beginning with a big Pink Bank-related Band Together for Survival concert at the Basie (featuring,
among others, Josh Kelley — pictured here with TV/movie star spouse Katherine
Heigl) and winding down with some fairly fascinating Open Mic activity
(check Wednesday’s edition for a report on the scene over at Jamian’s), the
weekend brings us everything from vintage punk band The Vibrators to
acclaimed classical pianist Gerd Nowacyzk.
There’s a special Mother’s Day tribute in song at the Middletown library, a
night in which some superstar New Brunswick bands take over the clubs of
Asbury, and not one but TWO totally unique music-and-art happenings at the
SICA fun factory in Long Branch.
Music Week, of course, doesn’t really ever end. The warm-weather concert season is
just getting started, there are plenty more captivating crannies to
investigate, and we’ll be there each step of the way with the comprehensive
coverage you’ll find only in Red Bank oRBit.
