COP MAKES THREE POT BUSTS IN ONE DAY

mtown-police-car• On October 11, 2011 at approximately 10:40 pm Patrolman Robert McNair was on patrol in the area of the Bayshore Waterfront Park when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot. Officer McNair approached the vehicle at which point he detected a strong odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the car.

Officer McNair conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of a cigar filled with Marijuana; a grinder, which is a device used to prepare Marijuana for smoking; a pipe used to smoke Marijuana and the arrests of Loren Ranero, age 18, from Nevada Drive in Hazlet, NJ, Shannon Kempf, age 18, from Union Avenue in Hazlet, NJ, and Christina Ciulla, age 18, from Peter Place in Hazlet, NJ, for Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All three subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 11, 2011 at approximately 5:45 pm Patrolman Robert McNair was on patrol in the area of Bray Avenue when he observed a suspicious subject, identified as Merideu Cadet, age 25, from Middletown Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, riding a bike. Officer McNair approached Cadet at which point he observed him attempt to remove something from his pocket.

Officer McNair conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of Marijuana from Cadet’s pocket and the arrest of Cadet for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 11, 2011 at approximately 4:40 pm Patrolman Robert McNair was on patrol on Port Monmouth Road in the area of the Spy House Park when he was flagged down by a subject who reported that he observed two teenagers smoking what he believed to be Marijuana in the park.

Officer McNair approached the two subjects and conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of a bag of Marijuana and a pipe used to smoke Marijuana as well as the arrests of a 16 year old male juvenile from Port Monmouth, NJ for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a 16 year old male juvenile from West Keansburg, NJ, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 11, 2011 at approximately 7:45 pm Lieutenant Ernest Volkland responded to an alarm activation at a residence on Tindall Road. While checking the residence Officer Volkland located a subject, identified as Anthony McDonnell, age 21, from Tindall Road in Middletown, NJ, who had set the alarm off by accident. While speaking with McDonnell, Lieutenant Volkland detected a strong odor of raw Marijuana coming from his person.
Lieutenant Volkland continued his investigation which resulted in the recovery of a baggie of Marijuana from McDonnell’s sweatshirt and the arrest of McDonnell for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 10, 2011 at approximately 5:50 pm Corporal James Keenan responded to the E-Z Food Store in Belford in reference to a report of an assault that had just taken place. Upon arrival Officer Keenan spoke to the victim who reported being assaulted by Richard Sakariassen, age 35, from Normandy Place in Sea Bright, NJ.

Officer Keenan conducted an investigation which resulted in Sakariassen being charged with Disorderly Conduct, Simple Assault and Harassment. He was processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 10, 2011 at approximately 12:30 pm Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia responded to Oakdale Drive in reference to a report from a taxi driver that a passenger was refusing to pay the cab fare. Officer Fenezia spoke with the driver who reported he picked up Janis VanNortwick, age 42, from Oakdale Drive in Middletown, NJ, from a business in Hazlet and transported her home. Upon arrival at her residence VanNortwick refused to pay the $26.00 fare and fled into her apartment.

Officer Fenezia located VanNortwick and charged her with Theft of Services. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

• On October 7, 2011 at approximately 2:40 pm Patrolman Charles Higgins and Patrolman John Mele responded to the area of Cooper Road in reference to a one car motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival Officer Higgins located the vehicle off the roadway and in the woods. Officer Higgins located the driver, identified as Charles Chapman, age 44, from Monmouth Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, at which point he detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Officer Higgins conducted an investigation which resulted in Chapman being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Motor Vehicle. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and was held on $40,000.00 bail with no 10% option.

Officer Mele also arrested a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Roger Bremekamp, age 46, from Center Avenue in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was held on $2,187.00 bail.

• On October 5, 2011 at approximately 11:55 pm Patrolman Anthony Gigante and Patrolman Felipe Benedit of the Quality of Life Unit were on patrol in the area of the Port Monmouth Foodtown when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot. The officers approached the vehicle and conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of two baggies containing Cocaine and the arrest of Nicole Fox, age 25, from Garrett Place in Middletown, NJ, for Possession of Cocaine.

Fox was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.

• The Middletown Police Department reports the arrests of the following subjects for various offenses:

Daniel Werner, age 25, from Main Street in Keansburg, NJ, arrested on October 11, 2011 by Patrolman Brady Carr on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court. He was released after posting $100.00 bail.

Michael Lind, age 23, from Trimbleford Lane in Middletown, NJ, arrested on October 6, 2011 by Detective Daniel Sullivan for Possession of Xanax, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Xanax within 1000 feet of a Public Park and Resisting Arrest. The arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force Bayshore Unit.
