RED BANK: VIOLINS AND VOLUNTEERS AT GALA

2012-music-topic-miri-ben-ari-1174350Grammy winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari is the special performing guest as the annual Hand in Hand Tribute Dinner comes to Two River Theater.

Press release from Hand in Hand

She’s called herself “The Hip Hop Violinist:” an Israeli-born, Grammy winning recording artist (and Israeli Army veteran) whose numerous artistic, humanitarian and commercial collaborators have ranged from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Michelle Obama and Itzhak Perlman. On the evening of Monday, June 15, Miri Ben-Ari makes her Red Bank performing debut as the special musical guest of Hand in Hand – an organization that sponsors unique recreational and outreach programs for children with special needs – during its annual Tribute Dinner at Two River Theater.

Chaired by Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, the buffet dinner fundraiser event will honor the teenagers who volunteer for Hand in Hand, in addition to four community members who have an important stake in the program’s success – Dr. Glenn and Elaine Parker, and Dr. Russell and Ellen Ashinoff.

It is somewhat of a unique twist for the guests of honor at an elegant awards dinner of this type to be people who have not yet graduated from high school – but in the words of Rabbi Laibel Schapiro, director of Chabad of the Shore, “These very special young men and women are the true heroes of the program.”

“By linking teen volunteers with special needs children, Hand in Hand teaches the value of giving, and encourages an uplifting community support system,” the Rabbi explains. “It’s about turning up the volume on our extrasensory capabilities in response to the cries of children with special needs. It’s about enabling each child to discover his or her unique potential and having that potential shine in the most radiant way.”

For further information, reservations or to place an ad in the Dinner Journal, call (732) 229-2424 or visit the organization’s website.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
